Ramos is one of the most famous bartenders in American history, coming to fame in New Orleans during the 1880s, after opening the Imperial Cabinet bar in New Orleans in 1887, with his brother. Ramos was well-known to be fastidious and a teetotaler, so while this is complicated drink to make, he never had one himself. Still, the Ramos gin fizz is so popular, it’s one of the few drinks that became famous while the person who invented it was still alive.
