Today’s DOTD - Drink Of The Day - is a Cowboy Derby inspired by International Country Music Day!

Established in the 1950s, International Country Music Day is also the birthday of the 'King of Country Music' Hank Williams (Senior), one of the most significant and influential country music artists of the 20th century. Williams became famous for many songs, including his biggest hits, Your Cheatin' Heart, and Hey, Good Lookin.'

While Hank Williams (Senior) became a country & western music superstar quickly, by the age of 25, he sadly died a mere four years later, at the age of 29. Inherently a tortured soul, Williams died of a heart attack in the back of his Cadillac, a victim of an addiction to drinking and drugs.

Today, country music festivals are being held across the globe, with fans paying tribute to some of the world's best country music artists, including Tim McGraw, George Strait, Shania Twain, Garth Brooks, Dolly Parton, Willie Nelson, and Tammy Wynette to name a few.

Droves of country music fans, dressed in blue jeans, checked shirts, and cowboy boots, will no doubt be descending on the country music capital of the world, Nashville, to celebrate today. But if you can't make it to Nashville, you can still channel some cowboy spirit with a Cowboy Derby, a riff on the classic 1930s Brown Derby..
