A Drink For Those That Touch The Sky
Today’s DOTD - Drink Of The Day - is a High Ryeser Cocktail inspired by National Skyscraper Day, which is also the anniversary of the birth of the 'father of modern skyscrapers', American architect Louis H. Sullivan. Sullivan designed & built more than 100 towering buildings across the United States in the late nineteenth century, including the Prudential Building, the Wainwright Building, .& the Carson Pirie Scott & Company Building.
The world's first skyscraper was Chicago's Home Insurance Building, built in 1885, a 10-story high-rise, which was an impressive height back then. These days, skyscrapers are defined as buildings that are 40 floors or more - though today's tallest edifice, Dubai's Burj Khalifa, far exceeds that height at 163 floors or 2,717 feet (828m).
These amazing multi-story buildings are incredible feats of science, engineering, art and architecture and the visionaries responsible for their design and construction should be recognized and honored.
So today, we raise a toast to them with the High Ryeser Cocktail, a high-proof whiskey meets Manhattan drink.
