In communities across the U.S., from small towns to big cities, there used to be a lot more places like your friendly neighborhood bar. It was a place you could come after work, to talk with your friends & neighbors about the news of the day, to have a few laughs, and maybe a few drinks. In those days, you could even talk about politics a directly & honestly without causing a bar brawl.
These days, the people in our personal communities are often spread from coast to coast and around the world. And while it’s great to see ‘em on social media, it would be better to have a place where the bartenders knew your name, and you could trust the folks in your community would be there with the latest news – and maybe a drink or two.
So, with that need in mind, after years of working in national political media, Jody Hamilton & Shawn “Smith” Peirce decided to create a place like that, here & now. It’s called “The Politics Bar” – and you’re invited.
From entertainment stars everyone loves like Carol Burnett, to honest political talkers from the left, right, and center, this is a bar for almost everyone. From legal issues to events like The Met Gala, our focus will include a broad range of topics, often with an eye towards politics - but not always. And of course, we’ll talk about drinks - cocktails, mocktails, & more - and we’ll give the recipes too.
The Politics Bar opens officially on May 19th, 2025 - but you can get subscribed now to make sure you don’t miss out on any of the upcoming guests.
Come on in, pull up a chair, grab something to drink, and we’ll get you up to speed with the news of the day, at The Politics Bar.
